August Fruit of the Month Recap!

Stone Fruit was the Fruit of the Month for August. Students had the opportunity to try nectarines, peaches and plums throughout the month! Below is a photo of the fresh fruit served at Chula Vista High School. As part of the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program, students are required to take a serving of fruit or vegetables with their meals. We are proud to be able to serve healthy, fresh produce to our students daily!

Fruit of the Month Recap!

During the month of July we featured watermelon as our Fruit of the Month. The cafeterias across the district served this refreshing and popular fruit throughout the month. Below are pictures of our great crew at Montgomery High School preparing watermelon for students.

Wing Tasting!

Last week students at Sweetwater High and National City Middle had the opportunity to participate in our wing tasting. Students were able to try two flavors of wings and take a survey letting us know what they thought and if the wings should be on next year’s lunch menus. Thank you to all of the students who participated in our survey! We love to hear all student feedback so we can continue serving nutritious and delicious meals!

Welcome Back SUHSD Students!

We are excited to announce our new January through March breakfast and lunch menus! We have 13 new menu items that we are sure students (and staff) will enjoy. Unfortunately, we are still experiencing shortages so menus are subject to change based on availability. If there is a food allergy, please notify staff and submit a ‘Medical Statement to Request Special Meals and/or Accommodations’ form. We look forward to continue feeding healthy, nutritious foods to each student in the Sweetwater community!

Metabolism - Center for Healthy Aging

Did you know…

  • Skipping meals is not good for your health!  It can cause your metabolism to slow down; potentially leading to weight gain and/or abnormal body processes.
  • When you skip a meal, your body goes into survival mode, which can cause your body to store fat and lead to cravings/overeating later on.  Be sure not to miss a meal by visiting your school cafeteria for a variety of delicious and nutritious meals.
